Jelly Tot classes focus primarily on ballet and jazz, with elements of strength training, flexibility, and creative movement woven throughout.
Fall 2026 Term Schedule
September to December (approximately 12 weeks, concluding with a final showcase in early December)
Instructor: Katie Campbell
Ms. Katie began dancing at age two and trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap. Drawn to the balance of fun and challenge, she found her teaching home at X‑treme, where she has been part of the team for nine years.
Outside the studio, Ms. Katie works full‑time as a biomedical engineer, conducting research that supports individuals living with spinal cord injuries and limb loss. She is also pursuing her PhD in electrical engineering part‑time. A dedicated educator and proud mother of two toddlers, she brings both expertise and warmth to every class she leads.

Instructor: Leah Paterson
Ms. Leah began her journey with X-treme in kindergarten and transitioned to competitive dance in second grade, continuing for 11 years until graduating high school. During high school and her undergraduate studies, she taught JellyTots classes before relocating for further education. She is now a speech-language pathologist. A fun fact about Ms. Leah is that she completed the Grade 8 piano exams with the Royal Conservatory. Dance, and specifically Xtreme, has always been her community and second family. Her favorite dance styles are jazz, tap, and contemporary.

Class Overview
Hip Hop for ages 3–4 introduces young dancers to basic street‑style movement through fun, upbeat hip hop and pop music. Dancers build coordination, rhythm, and confidence while learning simple steps and playful choreography. Classes use games, imagination, and high‑energy movement to help little ones develop gross‑motor skills, listening skills, and expressive movement in a positive, encouraging environment.

Dress Code: Clean, non-marking indoor shoes are mandatory. Dancers should wear comfortable attire that they can move freely in such as a t-shirt and leggings or sweatpants. Jeans and other restrictive clothing are not permitted.

Ms. Rachel has been dancing since the age of 2 and has been part of the X-treme family since she was 8 years old. Over the years, she has trained in various styles, including four years as a break dancer, and joined the competitive team at age 10. Her love for dance has only grown stronger with time. Two seasons ago, Ms. Rachel began teaching and assisting in classes, and she instantly fell in love with creating a fun, safe, and encouraging space for dancers to grow. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her students smiling, having fun, and gaining confidence. Outside of dance, Ms. Rachel enjoys reading, coloring, and keeping up with her schoolwork. She has a passion for working with kids and dreams of becoming a teacher one day - always hoping to be one of her students' favorite instructors!

Tap Add-On Class (Beginner Ages 3-6)
Sundays, 10:15-10:30am
This 15-minute tap class is the perfect addition for young dancers enrolled in our 3-4yr and 5-6yr JellyTots programs on Sunday. Designed to introduce the basics of tap dancing in a fun and engaging way, it enhances rhythm, coordination, and musicality. This add-on gives dancers an extra opportunity to develop their skills while enjoying a short and energetic session before or after their primary class. No prior tap experience needed!
Please ensure your child has their tap shoes for the first class so we can get right into those shuffle-steps!

Through a structured yet playful approach, your dancer will embark on a journey of discovery, learning ballet positions, movements, and terminology while also exploring dynamic jazz routines filled with jumps, turns, and kicks. With a focus on fostering creativity, musicality, and self-expression, the class provides a supportive environment where young dancers can develop their coordination, confidence, and love for movement.

Dancers will focus on technique, memory retention, and foundational skills in both jazz and ballet, while also developing their self-expression and musicality. At the heart of this class is a commitment to education and versatility, giving dancers the tools they need to grow with confidence and creativity.

This includes a wide range of styles including breaking, locking, popping and krumping. In Hip Hop Class, students can expect an upbeat, fun class with current, popular music where they will explore textures and musicality while developing strength and endurance.

Instructor: Kate Dumouchel
Ms. Kate is a Hip-Hop dance teacher and graphic designer from Fredericton, New Brunswick. Trained at X-treme Dance Studio under previous and current faculty, Kate excels in various new skool styles and focuses on commercial/urban choreography. Her energetic, creative classes foster a supportive environment, encouraging students to take up space and find their musicality within dance. Holding a Diploma in Graphic Design from NBCCD, she seamlessly blends her artistic skills with her love for dance, inspiring and innovating in both fields. Outside of dance, she likes to crochet or go fishing and relax at home while playing video games next to her cat.

Our contemporary classes encompass education in contemporary, lyrical and improvisation. Dancers will learn how to showcase their skills successfully and learn the foundations of choreography.

Instructor: Emily Morton
Ms. Emily has been trained in ballet since the age of 3 and has danced competitively since she was 12. She spent two years competing with X-treme, earning multiple high-achieving awards. In 2018, she attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Summer Program. Ms. Emily has performed and choreographed for The Nutcracker and has worked with numerous professional dancers over the years. She has trained in Toronto, participated in semi-professional performances, and taken classes from professional dancers. Currently, she is dedicated to sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with dancers in her hometown while continuing her own training and growth. In her free time, Ms. Emily enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and playing the guitar. She loves dance for its expressive power and the ability to tell stories through movement. Dance is an integral part of her life, and she can't imagine where she would be without it.
